About this event
Buster’s back at the Palace, this time in three excellent comedy classic shorts accompanied on piano by the peerless Lillian Henley! We begin behind the scenes to meet the cast in BACK STAGE (1919), a chance to see young Buster as a team player in Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle’s troupe before he began to try his hand behind the camera himself the next year. Next up it’s an unexpected journey to the skies in the wonderful THE BALLOONATIC (1923) in which a hopeful young man tries his hand at various things before coming across the launch of a hot air balloon, offering to help and then, well… don’t try this at home, kids. We close with relentlessly inventive and perfectly brilliant THE BLACKSMITH (1922), in which our man discovers that he has many talents, few, alas, directly relating to those of a traditional blacksmith. Director: Buster Keaton, Eddie Cline, Roscoe Arbuckle Starring: Buster Keaton, Virginia Fox, Phyllis Haver Year: 1919-1923 Language: Silent with live piano accompaniment Country: USA Running time: 1hr 20mins
