Inspired by a 2019 4chan image of an empty yellow-carpeted office space, Kane Parsons’ nine-minute “found-footage” horror short Backrooms has racked up 77 million views on YouTube since he posted it four years ago when he was just 16. This feature-length adaptation of the global phenomenon makes Kane Parsons the youngest director in A24’s history at age 20.
