About this event
After School Art Club | Ages 8–16 Tuesdays 4.15 – 5.30pm | Deal A weekly art class for young people who want to develop their creativity, learn to draw, and explore their own ideas in a real artist’s studio. This is not a step-by-step class. Students are encouraged to think for themselves, to observe closely, and to follow their own imagination. They work surrounded by paintings, drawings and sculpture, using good quality materials and a wide range of techniques. At the heart of the class is drawing — not just as a skill, but as a way of thinking. Students learn to: draw with confidence observe the world more closely experiment and take risks develop their own ideas work through problems creatively Over time, they begin to experience what it feels like to work like a creative adult — following an idea, making mistakes, and discovering their own way of seeing. This approach builds confidence, independence, and a deeper connection to creativity. ⭐ Why this matters In a world focused on measurable outcomes, the ability to observe, think visually, and stay with a problem is often overlooked. Learning to draw develops these skills in a natural and lasting way. ⭐ Booking Information Ages 8–16 (older students very welcome) Small group to allow individual attention All basic materials provided (paper and boards) Weekly sessions (term booking preferred) ⭐ A quiet difference Each student’s work is individual. There are no templates or fixed outcomes — imagination is taken seriously. 👉 Learn to draw. I run the Stephanie Fuller Gallery in Deal, where I teach in a working studio environment surrounded by my own work. I trained at Bath Academy of Art, Wimbledon School of Art, and the Norwich Life Room, and my teaching is grounded in drawing as the foundation of creative thinking. I have taught drawing and painting to both adults and young people, including at the National Art School in Sydney, and have many years’ experience working in schools as a supply teacher across a range of subjects. My approach is to guide each student individually, helping them to develop confidence, observation, and their own ideas, rather than following set outcomes. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and have experience working with children and young people in both group and one-to-one settings, including those with additional needs. I aim to create a calm, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student feels able to explore and develop their creativity.
