Villainy and Plunder! Thanet has a long and exotic history of smuggling. Join Seb Reilly at the San Clu on September 24th to find out more. Seb Reilly is an award-winning writer and Captain of Plunder, a bookshop in Ramsgate High Street containing the Thanet Smuggler Experience. A Thanet local, he grew up climbing through smugglers' caves and playing pirates, and still does. Villainy and Plunder: Historic Smuggling in Ramsgate Thanet has a long and exotic history of smuggling, from the illegal tea trade and hidden alcohol to stolen sheep fleeces and opium. Hear about hidden tunnels, boat chases, and bloody battles along with smuggling legends, stranger than fiction stories, and ghost tales. Doors open for this Ramsgate Society event at 6:30pm with the talk + Q&A from 7pm to 8pm. Tickets for Society Members £3 and Guests £5
